Doggie beds made from quilting material scraps by RWYS Quilting ministry Phoenix, AZ

Recycling Quilting Material Scraps to Make Cute Dog Beds!

A quilter’s quandary… what to do with material scraps? They shouldn’t be thrown away. Could they be used for SOMETHING? Oh yes. For several years, the members of RWYS Quilting Phx have made dog beds using material scraps and pillowcases.

These beds are picked up from RWYS by Sue B. who transports them to Michelle Hartt of Adorable Dog Rescue. Michelle then distributes the beds to various organizations around the valley (Animal Benefits Club [ABC] of Phoenix, Sun City West Animal Hospital, Old Dog Sanctuary, Kim’s Dog Rescue in Waddell, FOREVER LOVING HEARTS CAT RESCUE [yes, cats receive beds too!] and AZ Humane Society-Sunnyslope, just to mention just a few).

Recently I (Debbi) made beds for our dogs Lily and Boo Boo. They love it. Imagine how a dog/cat who is staying in a cage would appreciate a bed. Thanks to all who have donated material scraps and made beds. Your continued service in this manner is greatly appreciated.

I had the greatest opportunity to deliver dog beds to the Az Small Dog Rescue. They were thrilled to receive 47 beds! Thank you to all who saved our sewing scraps and those who sewed the pillowcases for these dog beds. Such a blessing to all!
